COSTA MESA - ADDITION & REMODEL
COSTA MESA was an addition and remodel to an existing 1930s home. The original house had an attached garage in the back of the house that was small and difficult to get a car in and out of. In addition, the house had a small dark family room with little connection to the rest of the house and a backyard that was large but had little connection to the house.
We resolved these problems by designing and building a new detached garage/carriage house in the backyard and converting the existing garage to additional space for the family room. By replacing the garage door with french doors and adding additional french doors facing the backyard, we were able to create a much lighter and more comfortable family room with lots of glass and views of the yard.
We also completely remodeled the kitchen creating a much more usable space with a strong connection to the family room.
